The Wicked World Dwells In Darkness Where Sin and Corruption Grow
Let Your Light Shine-Bear Witness To Truth
“Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
Ephesians 5:11
The wicked of the world dwells in darkness spiritually, where sin and corruption flourish. The wicked seek shelter in darkness:
Job 24:13,15,17
”The wicked are those who rebel against the light. They do not recognize its ways or stay on its paths.”
“The adulterer’s eye watches for twilight, thinking: No eye will see me; he covers his face.”
“For the morning is like darkness to them. Surely they are familiar with the terrors of darkness!”
Because the wicked can successfully hide their plans and schemes from other humans, they foolishly believe that they can hide their activities from Almighty God.
Isaiah 29:15-16
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
The wicked have put their trust in their lying visions, prophets, and their false doctrines. Their leaders tell them that they can save them from death and Hell.
Isaiah 28:15
” For you said, “We have cut a deal with Death, and we have made an agreement with Sheol; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, it will not touch us, because we have made falsehood our refuge and have hidden behind treachery.”
No place is concealed from God’s view nor knowledge nor the execution of His will.
Psalms 139:7,11-12
“Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?”
“If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light around me will be night”— even the darkness is not dark to You. The night shines like the day; darkness and light are alike to You.”
Jeremiah 23:24
“Can a man hide himself in secret places where I cannot see him?”—the Lord’s declaration. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?”—the Lord’s declaration.”
Jeremiah 16:17
“for My gaze takes in all their ways. They are not concealed from Me, and their guilt is not hidden from My sight.”
Note these words of prophecy concerning the end times:
Revelation 6:15-17
“Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the military commanders, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of Their wrath has come! And who is able to stand?”
As a light bearer , what is your purpose in the world?
Light came into the world to expose the darkness of the wicked.
John 3:19-21
““This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who practices wicked things hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed. But anyone who lives by the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.”
Are you actively involved in exposing darkness?
Ephesians 5:11
“Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
This cannot be accomplished sitting silent avoiding a confrontation with evil people. Or worse conforming to their demands.
The Lord mentions a particularly despicable group who fail in meeting their obligation by falling victims to fear at the End. This is what he says:
7 The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.
8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:7,8
The “cowards” the Lord is speaking about are all who took an oath of dedication to him and then failed to live up to it out of cowardly fear of suffering physical pain, economic loss, or possible death.
Remember how cowardice gripped Peter at the time of Christ’ s death? Can you imagine the social opposition and pressure to conform Peter was confronted with at the time?
Today, we are experiencing the same social pressures as the 1st century faithful disciples of Christ faced. And it is largely from the same groups that were threatening and persecuting Christians for standing fast in their faith. Those in the 1st century faced the first wave of antichrist.
Remember the vicious attack on the man Stephen? (Acts 7)
Stephen obviously understood that he had to make a stand even if it cost him his life. He refused to be silenced by the mob.
Will you?
Christ says, “By its fruit you will know a tree“. Are you truly a bearer of the light of the Holy Spirit?
